u3as are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives ..........providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.

Kington is a small market town in North West of Herefordshire on the borders of England and Wales. There are a variety of local shops in the narrow High Street including craft shops, galleries, coffee shops and cafes. Kington is surrounded by attractive countryside including the dramatic Hergest Ridge and England's highest 18 hole golf course.
Kington u3a was launched in 2006 and has currently 42 members who are drawn from the town and many of the local villages. Our aim is to provide groups of interest to members. We participate in many different activities with a monthly general meeting beginning at 2pm until about 4pm on the second Thursday of most months. Members come together to hear talks on varied subjects. We take the opportunity to socialise over a cup of tea or coffee and cake. Members pay £2 per meeting and we welcome guests who pay £4 per meeting. Guests attend as an introductory visit for them to consider full membership and for a maximum of two occasions. If you join on your visit then the membership fee will be reduced accordingly.
Monthly meetings take place at Lyonshall Memorial Hall, Lyonshall, Kington HR5 3LL. Parking is available immediately outside the venue. The premises are comfortable and suitable for wheel chair users and people with mobility issues.

Annual membership is currently £20 per person per annum. Membership entitles you to join as many interest groups as you wish. Interest Groups meet in members homes or suitable halls in the Kington district. A small charge may be payable at each interest group meeting to cover any costs. Our financial year ends on 31st March and our Annual General Meeting takes place in June when we elect the committee and discuss our way forward.
It is with this in mind that since its formation in July 2006 Kington u3a has produced a array of activities and interest groups to tempt members. The interest groups on offer are always changing so check out the Groups page.
